This was one of the first pieces of music written for the album. I put a lot of guitar and synths on to build up textures. Grey, as he so skilfully does, added the vital emphasis into the guitar parts, along with Gayle adding her lyrics and amazing singing to take the song to a magical place. (Stephen).
Written in response to a magical experience atop a hill in the Borders. (Gayle).

From in the forest deep the wind does moan. Beneath the Hunters Moon the owl flies alone. 
We climb the hill from where the rooks have all fledged. The darkness beckons us unto the woodland edge. The river breathes a mist across the valley deep. The clouds unveil the moon, there’s magic in our reach. I take your hand and lead you through the tangled green. The dawn light fades the night and casts a spell unseen. Within the forest deep the owl does moan. Beneath the Hunters Moon we fly alone.
