Back in the distant mists of time (2000), Gayle Brogan was half of the retro-futuristic, bedroom-psych duo Electroscope with 2 full length albums released on the legendary Wurlitzer Jukebox. Around the turn of the millenium, she had been working on some solo pieces and needed a name for the project ... something short and unique preferably. During a discussion about music with a friend, she was asked what Nico's real name was and replied 'Christa Päffgen' to which her friend asked 'is that spelt P.E.F.K.I.N?' So, Pefkin was born.
In the intervening years, Gayle has released 14 full length albums, some singles and a couple of mini albums on labels such as Morc Records, Digitalis, Celebrate Psi Phenomenon, Pseudoarcana, Reverb Worship and Sonido Polifonico. She is a member of Meadowsilver, Burd Ellen, Barrett's Dottled Beauty and occasional guest with Trappist Afterland & Grey Malkin and United Bible Studies.
For her celebratory 20th anniversary release, Gayle has been working with Sonido Polifonico to create a bundle of corvidian joy! The lathe cut single features live favourite 'The Crow' paired with 'The Evening Crows', both John Clare poems set to music. 'Gossip Among the Leaves' is a very subjective 'best of', mainly featuring her more accessible, shorter songs.
